The Church Fathers were ancient and influential Christian theologians and writers. Although there is no definitive list, the era of these scholars who set the theological and scholarly foundations of Christianity largely ended by AD 700 (John of Damascus died in 749 AD).
This is the complete set of their writings compiled under the editorial supervision of Philip Schaff.
There are almost 60 authors, and over 2,500 works included in this collection. Also included are introductions to most of the authors. These provide a background to their life and how their works came to be accepted and preserved by the wider Christian world.
